This is the first "prestige" brand eyeshadow palette I ever purchased and it (+ good brushes, primer, and professional advice) changed how I do my eyes forever. I *love* the two lightest colors on the left (the ivory & gold) and have yet to find similar colors from other brands on par with these I've repurchased the ivory"Enlighten", and am looking to repurchase the gold. The brown in the center is good but I find it a little too brassy for day (I prefer a neutral "nude" eye for day) but it works well for evening. The green is okay, though I've found a similar shimmery green with better color payoff in L'Oreal Paris HiP Studio Secrets Professional Concentrated Shadow Duos, Devious, 0.08 Ounce. The gold glitter from the black color flecks off when wornit's the only color whose quality I would call sub-par. The brush is crummy, don't count on it to help you blend, but the large mirror is nice and the magnetic closures hold fast.

Moment of digression:

To look like a pro you need good brushes and eyeshadow primer besides well pigmented eyeshadow as found in this palette. Primers I recommend are: 1st Too Faced Cosmetics, Shadow Insurance, 0.35 Ounce, 2nd Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Tube Original 0.37 oz, 3rd NYX Cosmetics Eye Shadow Base, High Definition, 0.28 Ouncethe black tube one, not the NYX primers in pots. e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer elf is better than nothing, but doesn't come close to the performance of the other three. (not affiliated) has excellent tutorials, inspiring examples and videos to help you learn how to do your eye makeup and what would look best with your eye shape/size/color.

Back to the review:

This is an excellent setespecially if you're just starting to learn how to apply eye makeup like a pro. Good color payoff, excellent blend-ability, texture and wear (again, if you're serious you'll always use a primer). "Enlighten" is an awesome highlighting color, and the gold is the perfect gold by my standardsnot brassy, not too yellow, not too shiny. The pans in this LORAC palette are larger than some of their newer palettes, so you're getting a decent amount of product for your $ as well. Downsides to this palette are the black/gold glitter color which I wouldn't use (but someone in their teens/20's might) and the cheap-o brush, and since a brush is more of a bonus I wouldn't count that against it. All and all worth the spend.
