The Cover Girl Eyelights are marketed as being able to bring out and enhance the color of your eyes to really make them pop. Well, I was skeptical on its ability to do so, but I purchased this in Black Pearl which is aimed towards those with brown eyes. I applied this, one evening, to only one eye so that I could do a quick comparison and...no, my eye color did not appear to be brought out or appear any differently than the other, currently makeup-less eye.
The actual mascara color is black with a very, very subtle iridescent, almost silver, shimmer. This shimmer is almost unnoticeable, after putting the mascara on, I didn't notice it on my eyes, but swiped the wand against a sheet of paper towel and--after leaning very very close in, noticed the shimmer quality. I'm not sure why they've bothered to include this or even market it as eye-color enhancing when it's extremely subtle. For those who are really looking for something that does what eyelights claims to do, I suggest purchasing a colored mascara that is opposite on the color wheel of your eye color.
However, this mascara is pretty fantastic at lengthening eyelashes. I have about five different mascaras lying around my apartment. Everything from Lash Blast to Volume Exact and Fiber Wig and this, hands down, does the best with lengthening--severely noticeable lengthening, I should add--without clumping or that nasty spider legs look.
I would have liked the "eyelight" feature they're selling, it sounded pretty interesting, but I'm happy to have found my new favorite mascara that does a little more (and unfortunately a little less) than it promises. I'm giving four stars since it doesn't do what it claims regarding "eye lighting" but it is a fabulous regular mascara for anyone looking to lengthen.
I should note that I didn't notice any thickening of my lashes though. It seemed to be entirely length, so those looking for thicker eyelashes should try another brand.

Well, here's the skinny--I was in the store about 2 months ago and overheard these two young ladies in their 20s talking about this fantastic eye makeup, so, I did what any intelligent woman would do. I watched them to see what they were picking up. Guess what it was????Give up? Well, it was a combo pack of this mascara and the Cover Girl "Perfect Point Plus" eyeliner (#200 black--and it is really black). I normally buy Clinique, but I thought I would give this a try. If I didn't like it, I could just give it to my young whippersnapper granddaughter Alexis.
I tried it and I love it. Been wearing it ever since. Gives me beautiful long lashes. Add the eyeliner and I get those awesome panda bear (black) eyes. Why it highlights blue eyes, and why the other ones highlight brown or hazel eyes. I don't know. I guess the dark black look makes the blue eyes stand out? Don't know, but I love the look.
My lashes are not as full and long as the lovely Alexis, BUT, I first put on a coat of the white tube Clinique "lash building primer" and go make my coffee. Then I return to put on this mascara. I top off with the Clinique liquid eyeliner on the top and the Cover Girl eyeliner on the bottom of my eyes and my eyes look great. Been wearing it for 2 months and it does not irritate my eyes in any way.
Of course, I bought some for Alexis, too, so she could keep up with Grandma Kathy :-0

After watching the commericals about this product for over a month, I decided to try it out.I put a thin coat of mascara on and could tell no difference. There was no sparkle, no shimmer, no nothing. Basically it's like any other quality mascara.
When I tested the mascara on my finger I did notice a very small hint of shimmer, but nothing that would make it stand out when wearing it. I also tried the mascara on paper and I could see the shimmer there but that does the average consumer no good since we do not have white eye lashes.
I also had a friend look at my eyes in sunlight, natural lighting and florenscent light and no sparkle, shimmer or whatever Covergirl calls it could be seen.
I will not be buying this product again.
