Or rather that's what I thought when I unboxed this remarkable brush. The black bristles are very thick and solid and have the appearance of plastic nylon bristles. I was about to arrange an RMA return when I found this informative thread, . I tested one of the questionable bristles with a match and found that it certainly was real and organic. The quality of the boar bristles are so high that they give the impression of plastic.
The Mason Pearson brushes are well reviewed on Amazon and elsewhere, and since I've only owned this for a day I'll refrain from making bogus claims about whether it is worth the price or not. However, my thoughts on the plastic brush body are that it is a superior design. My last military style brush was an Acca Kappa with a handsome walnut body, but after a few months of being tossed into my humid travel bag, the varnish began to scratch off and the "new" was quickly lost.
I fully expect this to be a quality product that lives up to the reputation.Product is first class, price is great, service is even better. Brush arrived earlier than promised, was exactly what I wanted, and the vendor called to clear up some confusion and could not have been more helpful. Ultimately, vendor and service are as good or better than Mason Pearson, which is saying something. Can't say enough.
