This kit is a great value just for the brushes alone. I purchased mine at a BE outlet and only paid $13, so you can't beat that. The brushes are all of decent quality. I was afraid the glimmer shadows and mascara would be way too shimmery for my liking, but they're actually very subtle and pretty. The blue isn't nearly as intense as it looks and is easily blendable and buildable. The classic mascara is good...not super dramatic, but pretty and defining. The coral face color is okay...a bit too shimmery for my taste, but not as crazy-glittery as something like Too Faced products. My biggest disappointment was with the lipstick. It's a very pretty color, but the product itself smelled AWFUL. I ended up throwing it away on the same day I tried it. Do all BE lipsticks smell like that, I wonder? Even taking the stinky lipstick into account, this kit is still a good value.

This is the perfect accompaniment to the starter kit! It has GREAT colors that suit cool complexions and the brushes are wonderful! Normally, I have to pick and choose from collections like this but I use everything from this kit.

I love using Bare Minerals overall. I find their foundations and make up colors compatible with my skin type and extremely flattering. I'm from the Caribbean and have Asian/ Olive skin with a yellow undertone and very few brands provide colors,and most especially foundations, that match my skin tone. They are either too red, too brown, too blue/ green or even too yellow in undertone for me.

Now the Platinum Collection is sparkly and bright with strong pigments in the powder shadows and blush, as well as in the very natural shade of lipstick. The enclosed how-to guide ensures that you cant go wrong with application and as always, Bare Essentuals brushes are high quality and easy to use.

I do wish that BE could find a way to dispense the powders/ mineral make up more effectively as I end up with a make up case that needs frequent cleaning after the powders get into the air and all over everything. My make up counter also needs a complete wipe after I put my make up on; even if its a light foundation for a natural outdoor-sie look for daytime.

I would have given it 5 stars if not for the mess it makes.
