Mavala® Ridge-Filler (0.3 oz) Review
This product goes on matte... I don't understand the reviews that say it is actually shiny... it is not. It also goes on very smoothly, with only a HINT of natural tint that I would describe as a peachy-pink nude. Dries FAST. Perfect to wear alone, or with a shiny clear top coat, or under a colored polish. It wears exceptionally well and I have read online that it is considered relatively non-toxic as far as nail polishes go. Does it work to obscure ridges in nails? Yes! Especially if you do two coats. This polish looks much nicer than those ghastly looking white or clay-colored ridge fillers, which cannot be used alone or under sheer polish. That said, if you have super-deep ridges or "dips" in your nail beds, don't expect a miracle... no ridge-filler (that I know of) can level out super deep ridges and divets... only semi-permanent acrylic and gel products can do that, but those products and their application/removal methods are harsh on nails, which can cause NEW ridges to form just the existing ones are being disguised... so I decided to stop that crazy cycle and stick to my natural nails and try this product instead... glad I did! I do have one thumb nail that would never look smooth no matter how many coats of ridge filler I would apply, but I am hoping that by treating the nail very gently (meaning no over-zealous cuticle trimming) and taking vitamins, the ridges will eventually grow out or at least improve. Meanwhile this product makes the rest of my nails look super smooth! As the other reviewer stated, this does not dry clear. It is a semi-nude pink. I'm a man and use it because I can't find any other product that dries clear that fills ridges. It is not for men though. I only have one nail that is a problem and I just hope no one notices the pink. It is better than the whitish beige of some fillers.
