I love Clinique lash building primer. It's the best I've found, and it's the only one I've tried that actually helps prevent my mascara from flaking and smudging. That said, DO NOT BUY it from this seller or any of the other Amazon 3rd party sellers who are asking $20-some plus shipping for this product. The full size product through Clinique online store is $14 plus $5 shipping.

After I first checked Amazon for this primer and saw how much these sellers wanted, I went to Clinque site and ordered two at $14 apiece. I paid $6 shipping PLUS got a free sample of their lotion AND a free mini lipstick. A much better deal, wouldn't you say?

I have been using the Clinique Lash Building Primer for years. After curling my lashes, I stroke on just a thin layer of the primer. It does not clump or flake, and a tube lasts for many months. Then, I wait a minute or two for it to dry, and whisk on a thin layer of mascara. The Primer allows you to minimize the amount of mascara that is used, and also helps to maintain the shape of your curled lashes. If the tube is starting to run low, I whack it briskly on the bathroom counter to dislodge the contents and stretch it out for another week or two of use.

I thought this product might be a little more expensive if it were bought online, but I did not expect it to cost twice what it cost at a retail location in the Mall! I purchased this through Beauty Mart.

I got this as a free sample originally and have not used that many lash primers. However, I've used a ton of mascara. Hence, this review is for those of you that know mascara and are thinking about primers.

This primer doesn't really do much to increase the staying power of the mascara I use. Currently, I'm testing the Clinique lash doubling mascara with this product. In general, the waterproof mascaras are a bit better for staying power.

So if the primer isn't that great in extending staying power, why did I give it 4 stars? It turns out that this primer goes on white and has a slightly different consistency than mascara that allows you to really brush and extend out your lashes. If you have black haired lashes, this white on top makes for a great guide to making sure you put on a really good application of mascara after the fact.

I find that even though the mascara brush for the mascara is slightly better than ok, the use of the lash primer, brush plus the way it tends to separate and shape the lashes, make for a really nicely extended set of lashes. It's actually a better effect than when I only use a mascara that has an A+ brush. When I try this with a mascara I like a ton better, I really get a separated lash, extended, awesome effect. If I were to make an analogy, it's kind of like the difference between putting product in your hair and then brushing it vs. brushing it and then spraying it. The hair is going to stick a lot better to the shape you want.

Anyway, it's about in Sephora on line or shipping on line; not expensive as far as beauty products go. Depending on what tax is in your area and whether you have a eco-friendly car, it's a wash to buy or to go to the store. There's no need to get an extra large size, since you're suppose to swap out mascara like products every 3-4 months.
