As for the practical use, the mascara has an unusually thick consistency, and either this consistency or the brush itself make application a bit difficult if you want more natural, less clumpy lashes. A lash brush helped.
This slightly annoying detail would have been totally workable to me, but what was not was the intense burning in my eyes once the mascara began to run a little. Even after flushing my eyes and removing every visible trace of the mascara, the burning continues an hour or more after removal.
I've worn this mascara maybe three times. This last time I developed a stye the day after I wore it that I believe is related to the irritation from this product. I'll be throwing it away and searching for something new. The packaging and claims lend themselves to a convincing argument for a safe product. The burning in my eyes and the stye I developed speak otherwise.
If you are prone to sensitivities with make-up, I wouldn't waste your money on this product. It does not seem to be truly hypoallergenic.

This is a great mascara. Another reviewer claimed it never dries completely. I wouldn't go so far as to say NEVER, but it does take longer to dry than the "normal" chemical-laden garbage we've been putting on our eyes for years. I would say, however, that it still feels pliable after it dries, and maybe "moist" in comparison to the stuff that gets so dry that it makes your lashes feel brittle. This mascara certainly has a different feel to it than anything else I've ever put on. I can still move my lashes around once it's dry. It IS more likely to smudge, though, but a dusting of translucent powder around your eyes (or even whatever shade of eyeshadow you're wearing, or your regular face powder) should help prevent that. It works for me.The color is rich, is separates lashes nicely, and even adds length. My only complaint is that because it separates so well, it doesn't do much in the way of fullness, and I have sparse lashes. I compensate for this by applying a few times, and brushing through with a good lash/brow brush. I think if they changed the applicator, it would help.
On top of this product performing well, it supports organic farming, (which is good for everyone)and is free of the disgusting, irritating, and harmful chemicals in other stuff on the market.
I have also noticed a change in the health of my lashes since switching over to this mascara. My lashes aren't nearly as dry as they used to be, and they don't break off anymore, so they've gotten longer! Hurray!
I only wish they made it in brown.
