OK, back to the Halo powder. Here I am, out of finishing powder and not wanting to make another trip for GA powder when I still had plenty of the Liquid Silk Foundation, and this Halo caught my eye. What intrigued me was the "hydrating" part. I have VERY dry skin, and had never seen anything like this. As others have stated, the packaging is very cool it gives you the lovely finish of a loose powder but has the convenience of a hard compact. And when you twist the bottom to shave off the amount you need, a tiny twist goes a LONG way. And it seems to be a denser, more substantial powder when it does shave off, but don't let that worry you. It applies very lightly, not at all cakey. You feel like you are wearing nothing on your bare skin, but your skin feels as soft as satin. I am in my mid-thirties, and lines/wrinkles aren't really an issue yet, so I can't really comment on how it helps in that area. But I do have very sensitive, very fair, sometimes uneven skin with red undertones/some blotchiness. And Halo handled those issues beautifully. I used "Fair" and the color matched great (I have very fair skin, hazel eyes and light brown hair) I don't seem to have the color matching issues that I can encounter with Georgio Armani and Bare Essentials. My skin actually looks naturally flawless, with a slight "dewey" glow it's not at all shimmery, it just looks very natural and healthy. My mother, when she saw me wearing it for the first time (not knowing I was wearing anything different), could not stop exclaiming over how great I looked, how fresh and healthy and this is not something she usually does. My skin does not feel dried out with this and it lasts and looks great all day even after a long pet photo shoot filled with doggy kisses. I can be a bit of a brush snob I like a very soft, large powder brush for applying loose powder, but I have to admit that I actually liked the brush they included with this better. It gives better control when applying, especially in fine areas such as the eyes. And while the brush they include wasn't as soft as my favorite brush, it wasn't hard or uncomfortable either.
One other thing worth mentioning I am a photographer, and this powder is terrific for photos. Many finishing powders have a shimmer to them which does not photograph well at all. Halo gives the person a beautiful finish which photographs amazingly well. It will work especially well for special event photos, outdoor photos, or portrait photography.
Ok, so overall, I highly recommend this product, especially for those with dry, sensitive skin. It works so well, when I have used up my GA Liquid Silk, I might just have to try the Photo Finish foundation/primer it might just save me about $50.

I have been trying different foundations over the years and was drawn to the mineral style foundations but I found the most popular one to be messy and it did not match my skin tone very well...was either dark or light. Anyhow I was using the old cream/powder foundation by Smashbox and was mostly happy about it (could feel a little heavy at times). When they switched to this powder I was skeptical...only until I tried it. It feels like you are wearing nothing on your face and the coverage is amazing and lasts all day. Just make sure you put it on evenly. I also prefer a bigger brush than the one that comes with it. The delervery method is virtually no mess! YAY! I am very happy and I bought 2 from Amazon as the deal was too good to pass up. Enjoy!Best Deals on Smashbox HALO HYDRATING PERFECTING POWDER .75 oz (21 g)
I've been ordering smashbox since last year. The order I got this month is horrible...the label says "light" but it is very, very dark. I am a redhead and this looks dirty and yellow on my face. Also, why the price difference is the different shades? "Dark" is $40; "Fair" is $51.98; "Light" is $25.35; "Light/medium" is $58.95.... What's up with that???
