I first purchased "Acca Kappa Professional Pro Pneumatic Hair Brush, Oval, Chrome Pins" (the one with the white cushion) which is titled on the handle "359 Acca Kappa Pneumatic". I really like the feel of it it seems like a quality product that would last quite a long time. But four and a half months later, the barbs on the ends of the metal tines started to break off leaving it rather painful to brush with besides constantly catching in my hair. (My hair is straight, below shoulder length, medium-weight.) I'm curious to know if this is a usual problem with this brush.

I was refunded for the brush, and eventually decided to try "Acca Kappa Professional Pro Pneumatic Hair Brush, Oval with Chrome Plated Pins" (the one with the black cushion) which is titled on the handle "353 Professional Acca Kappa Antistatic". It also is a quality product; the handle, etc. seems the same. It has comfortable metal tines that do not catch the hair because they're rounded on the ends. There's no separate barb to break off; they appear to be molded into the tines themselves. The center cushion appears to be the same as the first brush only in a different color, and there's a pretty metal trim around the cushion.

Both brushes say "Made in Italy." The handles are 3.5" long, the total brush length 8.5" long and 2.5" wide at the widest part. (Not sure why another reviewer thought this was a travel size; seems plenty big to me.)

I love this brush! I have been looking to replace an old brush that I had for the past 20 years, but wanted one exactly like the old one. And I finally found it! What I love: the wooden handle, the metal pins, and the rubber bladder that holds the pins and flexes as you brush. The metal pins brush through tangles better than plastic. Also, there are no screw on parts for hair to catch in; the handle and flat part are one piece. This is a brush you will have for 20 years.

I purchased this hair brush for my girlfriend who prefers using cushioned metal pin coated hair brushes that are nearly impossible to find in any department store or specialty store (and I searched many looking for this style brush). It doesnt look like any brush ive seen before very high end feel to it. Girlfriend loves it, thats all that matters :)

the brush is really well made and i love how it looks. sometimes it's a little bit hard to get through all of my hair because I am not used to having a brush with so many bristles per square inch. That being said, I have hair that comes down to my belly button, so i have a lot more hair to deal with than the average woman! Also, the pad is pretty hard, as opposed to a conair one that i have that gives a little when the pins graze over my scalp. i really like it, but mostly because it's so good looking! i hate plastic cheap looking hair brushes.
