This brush is nice, it smells very strongly like grandma and hippie mixed together. Which I don't entirely hate. However in the description is said it doesn't use endangered wood, which is a strange way of saying that it is made of plastic. The brush, comb and everything. Not a big deal, but not what I was expecting. The bristles are nice. Also, be wary of giving as a gift. The shipping is not substantial enough from this company. Both products were completely smashed and the boxes were crushed. I would never give them away in that condition, but it is for me : )

This brush is very nice and has helped tame my daughters fine hair. It adds softness to her hair and is working great for us! The brush does have an odd smell but I haven't noticed it transferring to my baby's hair or anything. I'm very glad we bought this especially since we were having so much trouble finding a good baby brush for our baby who has lots of hair.

I swear to God that the brush and comb set I added to my baby registry was wood!

As my due date is getting close, I went back and ordered a few items myself that were left on the registry, including this brush and comb set. Sure enough, when it arrived I saw that it is made of plastic! I don't know if I made a mistake when adding the item to my registry, or what. Anyway, don't be a dummy like me--this brush and comb are definitely NOT made of wood.

However, the bristles are not made of plastic, which was ultimately the most important thing to me. As other commenters mentioned, this set does have a unique smell, but it is nice. Kind of soothing. Unusual but not bad.

Just as I was clearly too lazy to read the item description carefully, I am also too lazy to return this item and go in search of a wood brush. At this point in my pregnancy I'm just happy to cross things off my list. I'm too fat and swollen to be picky anymore!

Yes. It does have a bit of a smell when you remove it from the packaging but has never left an odor in my sons hair. A nice, substantial, soft brush. Better than those plastic bristle brushes. Gently grabs the hair from the scalp and leaves a nice finish to the hairstlye.
