I have a sister and several friends that swear by the Bare Minerals make up, and I was dying to try it I just didn't want to pay that much for something I might not like. When I saw this set on Amazon, I thought, well, that is much less than the name brand one and you get everything you need. So, I went ahead and ordered it. It arrived while my sister was here and we had to check it out.
I have to say that I am very impressed with this make up set.
Not only does it cover everything well, the set comes with everything you could need to match to your face flawlessly. The concealer worked wonderfully under the eyes and on the few blemishes I have on my skin. You cannot tell that they were ever there! I have very light skin being a natural redhead, and there were two different "Fair" foundations in the set I ordered. While the lighter one was too light and the darker one was a bit dark, I found that I could easily mix them a bit and blend the perfect shade for me. It covers extremely well, and is so lightweight that I really cannot tell I'm wearing any make up at all. There are two different colors of blush in this set, a sparkly pink one called "Baby Face" and a darker one as well. We tried them both and both look beautiful! Cover with the mineral veil finisher and your face looks amazing!! There are also three small eyeshadows that come with this set as well and they are all beautiful on.
For any lady out there that is considering purchasing the more expensive brand name set, I would recommend that you try this one first. Even my sister, who wears the other one, was extremely impressed and even a bit mad when I told her how much less I paid for it. I purchased this product and received it in a timely manner;however, immediately I was disappointed. I received this product this past Thursday and was so excited that I opened and used it right away. I washed my face put on the primer it comes with and began. I have used bareMinerals in the past and others had said this was similar, ooo how they were wrong! The make-up leaves a caked on smeared look. I tried with the brush it came with, which is the worst thing I have ever rubbed across my face, and had to start over. I began again with my brush set I kept from my bareMinerals starter kit and still the same results. It shows every pore, every line, every blemish it is simply terrible. I am 22 with fair skin and usually covering my face is easy, but this product is not quality mineral make-up. This fact is a shame because I was looking forward to cutting my cost in half. I read the bad reviews and ignored them (poor judgement on my part) because there were more than a few people satisfied, but I am baffled as to how anyone received good results. I would like to point out that I am not new to mineral make-up and I am certain as to how it should be applied. So please buyer beware! This product does offer the money back option but it truly is not worth your time or money. This make-up is simply poor quality and nothing comparable to bareMinerals. Now, I hate giving bad reviews, but I can't not with this one. I got it today and put it on and it looked rather nice. The eyeshadows are really glittery and so is one of the blushes, but that isn't a big deal. The foundations are nice and the concealer is okay...The thing is that as soon as I stepped outside two hours later and sweated even a little my face started burning. I thought nothing of it, but as I continued my friend pointed out my face was turning red and puffy. So now under my eyes, my mouth area, and my cheeks are red and burning, even after washing all the minerals away. It's slowly going away, but it's not a pleasant experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this makeup BUT you CANNOT compare it to Bare Minerals. If you can't spend the money on Bare Minerals [or Bare Minerals is not in your budget] this is a good one for the money. I was hoping to switch from Bare Minerals to this [I have been using Bare Minerals for over a year]. I gave it a 1-month test.You won't to go from Bare Minerals to this product Bare Minerals is as good as the commercials say it is it's not fair to either product to compare they are in the same category. You get a lot for your money with this product but it's not as smooth at Bare Minerals. If you have sensitive or dry skin the kit comes in matte [which can be drying or tingle sensitive skin which I felt with this product]. Maybe they have another product that is not matte. I have normal to dry skin and the foundation and veil felt drying but matte will do that. It is definitely heavier on the face than Bare Minerals but STILL a light product. The brushes cannot compare to Bare Minerals I used them with this makeup. The blush that came with it is really nice. The containers aren't the same either you waste more with them but for the price this isn't an issue.
Anyone who says this is as good as Bare Minerals hasn't truly used Bare Minerals. With all this being said it still is an excellent product for the price and does the job. If you are under 35 products don't matter and this one would be perfect [and you wouldn't notice what I noticed with the product]. For ladies like myself in their 40's :) you feel products drying your face and you want products that can keep you skin clear.
