First, let me preface this by saying I am a BIG believer in using the right tool for the job. Especially when it comes to make up! How you apply product, and what you use to apply it can make all the difference. Folks, listen to me on this one I've been doing make up for over 20 years.
I was able to snag this brush at the Dollar Store and decided to try it out in my own personal brush roll kit that I use solely for my face and I really wish I'd bought 2 more at the time. It works well for applying medium coverage foundation and some heavier cream concealers on larger areas, but I use it most for highlighting & contouring. Because the brush is so flat, I'm able to highlight the larger areas (cheekbones, lower forehead) easily, and then use the tip to create a really sharp highlight line down the center of my nose and in the other small areas I highlight, ie, the bow of my lips, tip of my chin, etc. It works great for contouring when I'm using a cream or liquid for contouring cheekbones, jawline, and on the sides of my nose (using the tip). I realize not every woman does their make up to this extent but when you have a special occasion or really just want to bring out all your features into sharp focus, this is my go to brush. Some beginners may have difficulty getting the hang of using this brush for highlighting/contouring purposes, but once you do, you'll never want to use anything else, it works like a dream. TIP: when contouring, use the tip to create straight line contours, then the side (flat) part of the brush to blend & diffuse the contour color.
I actually like this brush better than my old MAC brush, which had an issue with bristle separation this has held it's shape after months of daily usage and more than slightly OCD numbers of washings. (I try to wash mine every other day to keep from distributing old face oils and bacteria back on my skin if I can't wash them every other day, they're at least spritzed with alcohol to kill the bacteria and left to air dry)
Sadly, my local Dollar Store has sold out of these, so I'll be ordering more to have one dedicated just to my contour cream, one for highlighting, one for medium coverage foundations and cream concealers. Love it, love it, love it.I've only used this a couple of times but it does work great for applying foundation, I just rinsed it out after I used it and it cleans very easy. The bristles are very soft and this is a great price for a foundation brush.
