I've been wearing the Clinique Stay-True Oil Free Foundation since...well...I started using it 15 years ago and never looked back. Seriously. I have never found another foundation that I liked better. My only main skin issue is oil, and that product really did the trick when it came to controlling shine. Then Clinique went and DISCONTINUED it, and I FREAKED OUT!!! I have tried every other Clinique foundation, along with about a dozen other brands, and to no avail.
This Stay-Matte Oil-Free Foundation is Clinique's new and improved version of my dear departed product. I was told that this stuff is basically the same as the old version, except they have improved the cakey texture that the old foundation used to get if you had it on for too long. In that respect, the product does what it's supposed to do. Even after wearing this stuff all day with no primer underneath, I don't have to deal with that cakey foundation effect. However, as for controlling shine...no, no, no. I shouldn't have to bust out my blotting papers two hours after putting this stuff on. I think the shine control is actually worse than it was with the old Stay-True formula. I've had the exact same problem with every other Clinique foundation I've tried.
I may stick with the Stay-Matte foundation at least for a little while, because I just haven't found another product that does what I need it to do. But I will definitely keep looking for a product that does a better job with shine control.I rate this make-up high because (a) it is Clinique and (b) because it works. No more streaky coverups. Great!
