My stylist had one of these and I asked her to order one for me. She didn't so I grabbed hers the next time I was there to see what the brand was so I could order one for myself. I use this brush daily. I have other round brushes too, but because my hair is long and I travel a lot, if I'm traveling this is the only one I take because it's multi-functional. The concave middle allows you to get some body at the root if you wind the hair tight and allow to cool before unrolling the brush. Easy to clean loose hair out of it too.Best Deals on Olivia Garden Thermoactive Ionic Boar Combo Brush
Something about this does not perform as well as the ceramic ion brush I had from Goody; I think it has to do with all the air that goes in between the hair and the bristles, I mean there is less surface for the hair to glide on as it is being hand spun. IMO.Honest reviews on Olivia Garden Thermoactive Ionic Boar Combo Brush
I'll be the firs to admit I'm not on top of the game when it comes to hair styles and fashion. As much as I'd love to be, my budget doesn't allow it nor does my time schedule. I'm a busy mom and I'm happy if I can get a pony tale looking decent. In fact, if I straighten my hair that's really a special treat! Well one thing is important when it comes to hair, whether you're a fashion expert or a fashion nobody like myself, and that is the brush you use. You want one that will work without pulling out all your hair or being tortured to make your hair look nice. I think I found a solution thanks to Olivia Garden!I was sent the ThermoActive Hairbrush to check out and I have to say so far so good. The ThermoActive Ionic Boar Bombo Collection is a truly innovative brush collection that features the first ever completely ventilated 100% boar bristle ionic thermal round brush made using patented technologies. Utilizing a unique combination of boar and ionic nylon bristles every 2 rows additional ionic bristles are added to the boar, each ThermoActive brush provides truly unrestricted airflow that enables both sides of a hair strand to be shaped and styled at the same time. This leads to much faster and gentler styling. The end results: shinier and healthier hair.
Other features include:
Easier and better styling with total hair tension control
Curved barrel called "scalp hugging." The barrel gets closer to the scalp creating a longer lasting, stronger, dynamic hair style
Preserves natural condition of hair and controls flyaways
Rounded ball-point tip bristles for scalp comfort
Made of heat-resistant material
Extremely lightweight & balanced
Ergonomic handle and special anti-slip texture keeps hand & wrist relaxed and comfortable
Brush parts are fully ionic i.e. ions have relaxing benefits for user
Olivia Garden's ThermoActive Ionic Boar Combo brushes are available in five sizes: 1 3/4″ (SRP: $18.25), 2 1/4″ ($18.25), 2 1/2″ ($21.55), 3″ ($21.55) and 3 1/2″ ($23.25), and will be available in late 2011/early 2012. Each brush comes with a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects.
As I said, I'm liking the brush so far. I have yet to find anything wrong with it. I'm typically not the type to like round brushes probably because having thick hair they would normally just get tangled up and be a pain and a hassle. This ThermoActive brush though has not gotten tangled in my hair. I also like the combination of the soft and hard bristles so that way my hair is brushed free of knots, but it's also not painful.
The design of the handle makes it easy to hold on to the brush to use it. The only downfall I have with this brush (or any round brushes for that matter) is the cleaning process. Because I do have thick hair I generally clean my hair brush on a daily bases after use. Seriously, you would think I should be bald, but I just naturally have thick hair. My flat head brush is easy to pull my hair off where as with the round on, it's not so much difficult, but more time consuming and a slight bit more effort is needed. I'm used to one grab and pull and my brush is clean and of course that's not the case here. I'm sure most people don't have to worry about that on a regular basis like I do, but for those who do probably care to know that information.
Overall I do like the brush and intend to continue using it. Would I recommend it? Definitely. One big difference I notice when using this brush compared to my other brush is how my hair feels softer after use. So it is knot free and softer, who can argue with that?! If you're in need for a new brush check out Olivia Garden and see all their options they have available!
